Remember, when transferring a domain:
- DO NOT include the "http://www"
- Domains must already be registered with another registrar
- The domain name must be valid
- The domain must be registered at its current registrar for at least 60 days before a transfer can take place
What is the process for transferring a domain name?
- Start the process more than two weeks before your domain expires.
- Contact your current registrar to obtain an authorization code. Once you submit the transfer, we will send you an email requesting this authorization code.
- Within 24 hours of the transfer initiation, Dotster will send an email to the administrative contact listed in the domain’s WHOIS database record. Respond to the email as directed.
- In 5-7 days, your transfer will be complete.
- You can check the progress of the transfer when you log into your account.
What is an authorization code and how do I get one?
Authorization codes are required to transfer domain names to Dotster. To obtain a code, contact your current registrar. You will need to provide Dotster with the authorization code as part of the transfer process.
