What to do Before Purchasing SSL

To install an SSL certificate, you'll need to have an exclusive IP address for your web hosting or server.

If you use Dotster hosting, you can purchase an exclusive IP for $3 a month in your account
If you host your website elsewhere, you'll need to check to to see if you have an exclusive IP or need to add one

Before you purchase and install your SSL Certificate, you need to generate a Certificate Signing Request (CSR) and a Private Key, both of which are encrypted files used by your certificate.
